December 19th 2010

Sorry for a delayed baby update. It’s been a very busy week.

As of last week the kid’s room is pretty much done, furniture came last weekend, and washed and put away all of the baby clothes we’ve received, so there are only a few minor things left to take care of.

Had two sonograms, one trip to the obstruction and one dead car battery this week.

The sonogram visits have become much longer because C and baby are on a monitor that measures the kids pulse/heart rate to ensure the baby has a steady heart rate and measures any contractions (bi physical and non-stress tests). I just hangout in the room fidgeting and playing with “anything not nailed down.”

The doctor’s visit on Thursday was a hassle because it was packed and the same day that Carolyn’s car battery died.  After her second jump start of the day, one in the AM and one at work, I met her at the office. When I saw the wait at the Doctors, I decided to run to Art’s who graciously took a Chevy into his garage and replaced the battery.

Thursday was the snow day and the last sonogram of the week. We meet at the house and took one car. I had gotten out an hour early, and it took C an hour to get here from Howard High. It then took us an hour to get from Catonsville to St. Agnes. We would have been on time to our appointment if a car hadn’t been blocking Maiden Choice between
Frederick Road
and
Wilkens Avenue
.  So we made a U-turn and took a scenic trip through Irvington, and it took us about 25 minutes to get from
Fredick Avenue
to the hospital.  In the end, we were only 20 minutes late.

Results of the Doctors visit are that Carolyn’s cervix is dilated at 1cm and beginning to “soften”, which will help with the induction on the 2nd.  I was getting a car battery so I missed being in the room for this one. The doctor reviewed the information from the last sonogram and the baby was at 4.5 lbs and has dropped to the 5th percentile.  No one in either the sonogram or doctor’s office seemed “worried” or concerned so we are not.

Doctor ordered another 24hr pee collection to check for proteins in her urine, which she is completing today. This is the second time “we” have done this; it’s a lot easier with the cold weather.

Swelling of her legs from the knee down is still an issue.
